Oh god, the voice acting. Zero Diamonds as Fiora has this breathy, aristocratic thing going on that's actually pretty good, but then Marcella shows up and it's like someone told Ai-chan to do "evil horny" and she just ran with it, full send, no survivors. The whole thing feels like a flash game you'd find on Newgrounds in 2007, deliberately crusty around the edges, and I mean that as a compliment? Maybe. The animations are stiff in a way that loops perfectly into the absurdity.

So Fiora, right, she's this duelist who fucks around and finds out, classic Demacian justice where the punishment is... well. There's a scene with some kind of scientist that made me laugh out loud, not because it's funny but because the dialogue is so earnestly ridiculous. "Payable in blood" and all that. The hidden scenes on the main menu, I almost missed them, you have to poke around like you're looking for a secret level in a fighting game. One involves her brother which, okay, fantasy setting, whatever, but the way it's framed is so melodramatic I couldn't take it seriously. The choice system is there, I guess, but it's more like picking which flavor of degradation you want to watch next.

The music though. Inon Zur did the main theme. Inon Zur, who did Dragon Age and Fallout, composed for this. It's this sweeping orchestral piece that plays while Fiora gets railed by a guard, and the tonal whiplash is something else entirely. I wish the game leaned harder into that contrast, but it won't. The modeling is fine, LTR and Primer did their thing, but everyone's skin looks like polished plastic, which honestly adds to the whole "this is a shitpost that someone spent actual money on" vibe. The Crownguard character shows up for like two seconds, says something menacing, and then you're back to the main event. I spent way too long trying to figure out if the Elder Sister's voice was pitched up artificially or if Ko Clover just sounds like that.
