I keep coming back to this one scene where Mallory’s cake is just sitting there on the counter, half eaten, and nobody mentions it again. The whole thing feels like a memory you’re not sure actually happened. Morning Temptations part two, I guess. Mallory shows up at Lilith’s place, supposedly sad about some breakup, but the way she’s eyeing the webcam setup you know that’s not the real reason she’s there. The farm outside the window is just... there. A backdrop that makes everything feel more exposed somehow.
The VIP chat interface is clunky in a way that loops back around to being perfect. You’re clicking through these dialogue options and half the time the response doesn’t quite match what you picked, like the translation got mangled somewhere between intent and execution. That dress Lilith wears, the one that keeps slipping off one shoulder, it’s the kind of detail that sticks with you. I spent way too long trying to figure out if the pickup lines you can choose actually change anything or if it’s all on rails. Still don’t know. The real model they used for Mallory has this expression in the later scenes, right when the chat starts getting explicit, that’s somewhere between bored and intensely focused. You don’t see that often.
The sex stuff is direct. No buildup really, just Mallory typing and Lilith responding and then they’re both on camera and the farm outside doesn’t matter anymore. There’s a moment where the cake gets knocked over, I think, or maybe I imagined that because I wanted something to break the tension. The whole thing is unpolished in a way that feels deliberate, like someone left in the rough edges because sanding them down would’ve killed whatever weird energy is holding it together. I wish there was more to do with the farm setting, but that’s not what this is. This is two people in a room with a webcam and a breakup that was never really the point.
