This Terry guy, he’s got a job, right? Getting phone numbers of VIPs for some party. Sounds simple. But then it’s all these women, real human models in photos, and you’re clicking through dialogue trees trying to get them to talk. My kid could probably figure out the mechanics, it’s just picking what to say. But the whole point, the thing that makes my stomach drop, is you’re trying to find out who’s in a porn video. A sex tape. That’s the detective work. You call them up, they’re on the screen in these little video loops, and you ask questions, trying to figure out who directed it, who the actress is. The erotic part isn’t a side thing, it’s the whole engine.
I watched for a bit, pretending to check the router. The acting is... well, it’s a video quest, so you get these clips of the models reacting. One of them, I think her name was Sasha, she’s all coy and then the next dialogue choice she’s practically describing a scene to you. The story is just a flimsy excuse, a coat rack to hang these interactions on. You’re supposed to be a detective, but the only clues are in how much they’re willing to flirt or flash. I wish there was an actual puzzle to solve, something that didn’t just feel like a grind to the next explicit scene. But that’s not what this is, is it? It’s a fantasy about power and information, using a fake investigation to get off.
And the lack of polish, my god. It looks like a website from ten years ago. The interface is clunky, the video quality is all over the place. One minute you’re staring at a grainy loop of a woman on a bed, the next you’re reading text that feels like it was translated by a computer. It’s deliberately unpolished, I guess, part of the charm for some. But it just made me think about how easy it is to slap some photos and a script together and call it a game. There’s no real choice, you just click until you’ve exhausted the dialogue and the video plays. The tension, if you can call it that, comes from not knowing which one will finally just show you the tape. It’s a collection of adult model clips held together with the weakest detective story I’ve ever seen. I wanted to ask him what the appeal was, but I already knew the answer, and I didn’t want to hear it.
