The loading screen is a mess of jpeg artifacts and that weird purple color scheme every renpy game from 2016 had. Already I'm thinking, this is gonna be one of those. You know the ones. Where the english reads like someone ran a thesaurus through google translate twice and called it a day. But here's the thing about Corrupted World. The jank is the point. Or maybe I'm giving it too much credit.
Three women break into your shitty apartment. That's the inciting incident. Not a joke, not a dream sequence. Just three supernatural home invaders and suddenly you've got this menu option for corruption that keeps glowing. The protagonist is supposedly some average dude worried about college and part time work, which is hilarious because within four clicks you're knee deep in a mind control fantasy that would make a hentai protagonist blush. The CGs pop up without much warning. One minute you're reading about renting an apartment, next minute there's a fully uncensored scene with a woman who apparently used to be your enemy or your teacher or something. The game doesn't really care about logic and honestly neither should you.
The corruption mechanic is basically a number that goes up. Revolutionary stuff. What gets me is how the choices sometimes don't matter and sometimes they do and there's no way to tell which is which until you've already clicked. Save scumming is mandatory. The fantasy elements are just window dressing for the sex scenes and I respect that level of honesty. No worldbuilding lectures, no lore dumps. Just purple haired women appearing in your bedroom and the immediate option to use your mysterious new power on them.
The art varies wildly between scenes like they commissioned three different artists and told none of them about the others. One CG looks like it was traced from a 90s OVA, the next looks like a deviantart commission from 2007. It's jarring but somehow adds to the whole corrupted fever dream vibe. The writing has this broken poetry to it. Lines like "you hardly even know what it is" while staring at a woman's exposed everything. Pure accidental comedy gold.
