Heavenly Vows, Hellish Temptations looks almost too clean when you first load it up, like some soft romantic VN that belongs on a Pinterest board, and then ten minutes later your stomach is in a knot watching your freshly married self-protag smile while his wife accidentally-on-purpose lets another guy’s hand stay on her waist a bit too long. That slow burn is what got me. The game doesn’t rush to the fucking; it pokes at you. You’re clicking through these cute couple moments, “honeymoon phase” stuff, and then some random “friendly” neighbor shows up, or the boss, or that smug dude with the monster bloodline, and the camera lingers on where his eyes go. The dev is clearly into actual NTR tension. The scenes drip-feed corruption. First it’s a “harmless” grope on her ass in a crowded tavern while your character looks away for one second. Then she doesn’t slap his hand away right away. Then she blushes. Then she tells you it was “no big deal” and you get that awful choice: press her about it and feel like a jealous loser, or pretend you’re cool while your brain screams. The game loves that headspace, and I kinda hate how much I liked it.

I’m mostly a roguelike nerd, I like runs, resets, weird builds. Here there is no RNG combat or loot, but the choices feel like building a sick kind of “relationship build.” I tried a run where I played the loyal but insecure husband, another where I leaned into swinger vibes, like “ok fine, I’m into watching, let’s see where this goes,” and the script actually reacts. Not in a “multi-route happy ending” way, more in a “you thought you had control but you actually just tuned the flavor of your own humiliation” way. The best moment for me was a scene where you agree to some “light flirting” at a party. You think it’ll be just dirty talk. Then this huge, dark-skinned mercenary with a cocky smile keeps filling her wine, casually resting his hand on her thigh. There’s this one CG where his fingers dig into the soft part of her big ass while she leans back against him, and your own dialogue option is literally to rationalize it, like “it’s part of the game, we talked about this.” Horrible, 10/10 anxiety. She looks half guilty, half turned on, and the next morning she tells you she “barely remembers anything.” Yeah right. And I love that the game doesn’t slam you with a big “NTR EVENT” popup; it just quietly lets you stew. I was alt-tabbing to Discord to rant to a friend about how this fictional woman is gaslighting me, then coming back for more scenes like an idiot. There is some light fantasy/monster stuff mixed in too, and when those non-human bastards show up, the size difference and the way she reacts hits that extra corruption nerve. One thing that annoyed me: the auto-forward speed slider keeps resetting for me in Chrome for some reason and I will die mad about that. Also the MC facial expressions are sometimes way too calm while his wife is getting groped in front of him, which weirdly makes it even hotter. I wish there was a path where he actually walks away and leaves it all behind, but let’s be real, this is not that kind of story and it never will be. Anyway, I opened it to “just see the art” and ended up chasing every scene where she crosses another line, watching my own avatar get emotionally kicked in the balls, clicking “next” like a clown.
