You know what really gets me about these old detective parody games. The complete disregard for logic. Paul McClain, our so called promising investigator, rolls into Springfield looking for some rich English landowner's missing daughter and his entire method consists of checking women's asses for a birthmark. That's it. That's the whole case file. I spent twenty minutes just clicking through dialogue options that all lead to the same thing, someone losing their clothes, and honestly I'm not even mad about it.

The first girl you meet runs a little motel, I think, or maybe she just hangs around the lobby looking bored. The sprite work is rough, like someone drew it during a lunch break, but there's this one scene where she bends over to pick up a key she dropped and the whole thing freezes for a second while the game decides if you've earned the undress prompt yet. When it triggers, her skirt just vanishes. No animation, no transition, just gone. And then she's standing there acting like nothing happened while you click her underwear next. It's so janky it circles back around to being genuinely funny. The torture tag is misleading by the way, it's more like mild humiliation through bad writing. One suspect gets tied up with her own stockings and the dialogue is just her going "oh no, not my stockings" in the flattest tone possible.

Springfield itself is like three screens. A street, a saloon, and what I guess is the rich guy's house except you never actually go inside. You just stand on the porch and summon women somehow. The summoners quest tag makes zero sense until you realize there's a weird mechanic where you can call girls to you if you've found enough clues, which are just their discarded clothes from earlier scenes. So you're literally using a bra you found under a bar stool to magic a half naked woman to your location for more questioning. The logic is completely broken and I wish the birthmark reveal at the end wasn't just a static image with no buildup. After all that clicking and summoning and awkwardly undressing the entire female population of this town, you get a single screen of some pixelated butt with a smudge on it and a text box saying case closed. No fanfare, no reward scene, just credits. I stared at my screen for a solid minute wondering if I'd missed a branch somewhere but nope, that's the whole thing. The humor lands sometimes though, usually by accident, like when you examine a lamp three times and Paul just mutters "still a lamp" with increasing frustration. Relatable content honestly.
