Frost Pole again. The whole place is a frozen wasteland of recycled tiles and that one looping wind sound effect that drills into your skull after thirty seconds. But I keep coming back for these holiday specials, like a moth to a particularly horny flame. There's a new character, some kind of reindeer furry with a dream, and honestly her dream is the usual one in this series. The sprites jitter when they animate. The text boxes have typos that would make a high school English teacher weep. I spent an embarrassing amount of time just staring at a single idle animation for a new Pussymon, a little ice bat thing, because its wings clipped through its own head in a way that was almost hypnotic.

The quest design is basically "go here, get the thing, see the scene," which is fine because nobody's here for groundbreaking RPG mechanics. The 27 new animations are the real meat, and they're that specific kind of janky where the loops don't quite connect smoothly. It's like watching a flipbook made by someone who's really talented but also in a hurry. There's a moment with the new character where her tail does something physically impossible, and I think that's the point. It's supposed to be weird and off-kilter. The Easter egg hunt, which you trigger by going to area 04 with full stamina at early morning, is the kind of obscure nonsense that makes me respect the creator's refusal to hold your hand. I found it by accident while trying to grind for a drop that never came.

The writing has over 200 lines of text, and half of it is genuinely funny, the other half reads like it was translated through three different languages and then back into English by a sleep-deprived intern. I kind of love that. It adds to the whole "found a cursed game cartridge in a ditch" vibe. The parody elements are there, the fantasy setting is a thin coat of paint over a very simple engine, and the whole thing feels like it could collapse at any moment. That tension is the real special sauce. I wish the cheat manager wasn't locked behind the Patreon special edition, but that's just me being lazy. The legendary Pussymon bonus scene is probably wild, I wouldn't know. I'm just here for the broken little monsters and their broken little loops. The new character's dream gets achieved, I guess. Good for her.
