The voice acting, or what passes for it, is a crime scene. Maddy’s mom, Carol, has this breathy, almost ASMR thing going on when she’s trying to seduce you over a barricaded door while a zombie with one tit hanging out bangs its head on the window. It’s so jarring it loops back around to being hypnotic. The moans are layered wrong, like they recorded them in a closet and then mixed them with the subtlety of a brick. During a group scene that somehow involves a milf, her daughter, and a surprisingly well endowed zombie that just… watches, the audio clipping is so bad I thought my headphones were dying. Pure, uncut jank.

The plot is basically a fever dream. You’re Ethan, a college kid who goes to return a box of crap to his ex, Maddy, on a tropical island. The apocalypse hits. Now you’re stuck in a house with her entire family, playing a sandbox game of survival and, uh, relationship building. The humor is so dry it’s parched. One minute you’re boarding up windows, the next you’re getting a voyeuristic peek of the sister in the shower because the AI CG decided her towel should clip through the door. The horror elements are genuinely tense for about five seconds before a big ass zombie with a comically large erection shuffles by and you remember this is a game where you can romance your ex’s mom while her husband is, presumably, undead in the garden.

There’s a specific moment that broke me. You’re having a heartfelt talk with Maddy about your breakup, the writing actually gets kinda real for a second, and then a zombie glitches through the wall during a vaginal sex scene. Not interrupting, just… phasing through, a silent, decaying participant. The game didn’t even acknowledge it. The AI CG for the oral sex scenes is a roulette wheel of nightmare fuel, fingers melting into thighs, eyes on cheeks. It’s a sandbox where the real sand is the code grinding against itself. I unironically love how much it hates itself. The romance paths are locked behind finding duct tape and canned beans, which is the most honest relationship mechanic I’ve ever seen.
