The wall texture in Zelda's bedroom. What even is that? It looks like someone smeared old wallpaper paste on a flat plane and called it a day. I was doing my Link cosplay, right, the green tunic is all laid out on my chair for reference, and I boot up this thing for maybe some royal outfit ideas. Instead I get a princess with a wine glass and a stare that says she's seen the Hero of Time do some weird stuff with a chicken. The whole point is getting her drunk enough to do a striptease. Classy.
So you're just, pouring this pixelated Hyrule wine. There's a minigame. It's not hard. The feedback is her face getting more red and her dialogue getting that slurred quality. I swear one of her voice lines cracked mid word and it was the most realistic part. The actual video clips that play when you succeed. They're okay. Grainy, like a bad upload to an old tube site. But that grain kinda works for the vibe. It feels forbidden. Not like, polished forbidden. More like finding a crumpled magazine in the woods forbidden. Her costume, right, the princess dress. It's all about the layers. The way the shoulder strap slides. The sound effect for the fabric is just a generic swoosh. Missed opportunity for some real rustling.
The whole elf thing is there, pointy ears poking through hair. The game just. Ends. If you fail she kicks you out. My biggest complaint, and I will never get over this, is that the wine bottle model has no label. Just a flat purple cylinder. In a game about seduction through alcohol, you'd think they'd put some Hyrulean crest on the booze. There's a specific moment where she does this little twirl and the animation loops for a second too long and it's pure comedy. I wished for a gallery mode to just see the outfits without the minigame but that won't happen. Also the bed is just a brown rectangle. It's not even a nice brown.
