The thing about Food Truck Story that got me, as someone who checks localization for a living, is how the translation doesn't try to be perfect. It's got this raw quality where the dialogue feels like someone actually talking, not a script polished to death. You just graduated, the whole 9 to 5 thing makes you want to puke, and the game doesn't dress that up. The text has typos here and there, weird phrasing that somehow works because it matches the protagonist's messy headspace. I spent way too long on the menu design screen, picking between recipes, and the business sim part is actually where the lewd stuff hides. You think you're just running a truck but then.

The CG scenes unlock based on choices that don't always telegraph what they are. That's the interactive part they mention. You pick a location, a menu item, and suddenly you're in a scene with a customer who has these absolutely massive tits and the art style shifts into that glossy hentai look. The contrast is jarring in a good way. One minute you're calculating profit margins on some overpriced fusion taco, next minute there's a closeup that made me forget what I was even doing. The food theme ties into it, obviously. There's a scene involving whipped cream that I won't spoil but the localization team clearly had fun with the dialogue there. Some lines are so blunt they loop back around to being hot.

The truck itself is barely a character which bugs me. You upgrade it but it's just numbers. I wanted more personality from the setting. The business mechanics are simple, almost too simple, and I found myself clicking through days just to trigger the next encounter. The story branches feel real though. I failed a route because I picked the wrong ingredient supplier and the game just let me fail. No safety net. That's rare in these things. The big tits tag is accurate, almost comically so, but the CG quality varies. One scene has this incredible lighting and the next looks rushed. Still thinking about that one customer with the short hair who orders the spicy dish every time. Her scene alone is worth the whole download.
