You know what pissed me off about the original Mass Effect? All that talk about "we'll bang, okay?" and then you get some awkward underwear rubbing and a fade to black. What a ripoff. Whore Effect doesn't pretend to be anything else. Shepard's already a depraved mess when you start, and the first thing I did was walk her into the captain's quarters and just... explore the interface. There's this self-pleasure minigame that's basically a rhythm thing, click and drag, and I failed it three times before I figured out the timing. The animation's rough, like someone drew it in MS Paint after a few drinks, but the sounds she makes. Fuck.

The puzzle sections between the sex scenes are actually puzzles. Like, slide-the-blocks puzzles. I got stuck on one for ten minutes while my boss walked past my desk. The Liara scene unlocks after some stupid fetch quest on the Citadel, and it's a parody obviously, but when she uses her mind-meld thing to just... take control of Shepard's body while describing exactly what she's doing in that monotone scientist voice. The creampie finish isn't even hidden behind a fade-out. It's just there, messy and explicit.

The monster girl stuff comes later, on some uncharted world. EDI's got a scene too, which is weird because she's a hologram, but they made it work with some glitchy visual effects that are honestly more creative than anything in Andromeda. The sandbox part means you can just replay scenes from the menu once you unlock them, which I appreciate because I'm not grinding through another block puzzle for the Collector base orgy. Wait, I haven't actually unlocked that one yet. The mini games get repetitive, same clicking pattern for vaginal scenes, and the Commander Shepard dialogue wheel choices are basically "fuck me" or "fuck me harder" which is funny the first five times but then you're just clicking through to get to the good stuff. Some of the monster designs are genuinely unsettling in a way that killed my boner completely, but then the next scene would be hot enough to forget about it. The whole thing feels like it was made by someone who really loved the source material and also really needed to see Liara get railed properly. Can't say I blame them.
