Guard of Ajestremia starts like one of those fantasy VN that pretend to be all noble and serious, then five minutes later you are staring at a monster girl with tits barely contained in "official" armor and thinking, yeah ok, this is why I clicked. You play a male guard, classic loyal-dog type at first, but the story actually lets you lean into different personalities. Sometimes you’re this respectful knight trying to keep it in your pants, sometimes you’re just a horny idiot getting teased until you give in. Actual "game" part is turn based combat, and it’s not complicated, but it exists, which I appreciate and also kind of hate. There was one fight where I was low on health, she was this tall demon woman with huge tits and horns, and the text described her smirking while she toyed with me. I lost on purpose the second time because the defeat scene was hotter than the win. That’s one nice touch: losing is often worth it. You get alternative H-scenes, sometimes more rough, sometimes more desperate, with her pinning you, riding you until you cum without permission, that kind of thing. The adventure path splits a lot, your choices pile up quietly. One early choice about whether you escort a merchant or stay in the city changes who you even meet later, which monster girls you get to fuck and which stay in the "I saw some art of her in a gallery and that’s it" zone. There are multiple endings, some more romance focused, some more "you wander off into danger with your cock and a sword", and at least one that left me annoyed because a certain girl I liked a lot just fades out of the story if you don’t commit early. Dialog localization is weird in a charming way. Some lines sound like they were written by someone thinking in another language first, like "I shall have your seed until my legs do not answer anymore". It’s slightly broken, but that makes it more horny for me, feels like reading dirty fanfic on AO3 at 3G speed on a cheap phone. Then sometimes it snaps into super natural English like "you keep looking at my ass, guard, at least do something about it" and I wonder if another person wrote that. I wish they kept the same dirty rhythm everywhere, but yeah, not going to happen. Also one tiny thing: the sound of the text box click is a bit too sharp, and after a while it started to piss me off and I never actually fixed it or muted, I just kept complaining in my head while still reading all the porn. The romance parts, with slow teasing and long conversations before sex, hit me different. You can go for emotional endings where your relationship is actually the core, not the combat or the exploration. And then the next route is basically you fucking your way through a fantasy map, leaving monster girls full and smiling behind you like horny save points. It’s messy, hot, a bit broken in the head, which kind of matches the guard you’re playing.
