You start out thinking you’re just this worn-out dude whose joints feel older than your actual age, doctors poking you, telling you stuff that sounds smart but basically means “we don’t know shit.” Your body’s betraying you, you look at yourself in the mirror and you’re like, why do I feel like a forty-year-old salaryman stuck in a younger frame. The voyeur scenes feel dirty in a good way: bathroom door not shut all the way, steam everywhere, outline of her curves on frosted glass, you holding your breath, hoping the game doesn’t just hard cut to black. It doesn’t. It lets you stare, lets you linger, lets you feel like a bit of a creep. And then somehow makes you sympathize with yourself again two screens later.

What I liked is how your condition isn’t just background text. Sometimes in the middle of a teasing moment your body reminds you that you’re broken, your chest tightens or your bones crack, and it kills the mood in a really human way before cranking it right back up. She fusses over you, presses her hands over your skin to “check” if you’re feverish, but the way her fingers slide under your shirt, the way she sits too close on the couch, thighs touching, it’s not exactly medical. There are moments where she pretends not to notice your hard-on pressing against her hip and honestly that’s hotter than just instant porn.
