Okay so I was doing this thing where I try to map out the corruption paths in these VNs, you know, for science. And World of Corruption has this one early scene with the landlady that I keep coming back to. It's not even the full sex scene, it's the lead up. She's complaining about the pipes again, totally normal, and you get this dialogue wheel. One option is just "fix it" which costs money. The other is grayed out at first but then this shimmer effect happens and suddenly you can just... tell her the pipes are fine. And she believes you. But her eyes go a bit glassy and she touches her collar. That's it. That's the whole thing.

But I reloaded like six times.

The mind control tag is doing heavy lifting here but not in the usual "hypno spiral go brrr" way. It's more insidious. You're not just puppeting people, you're sort of sanding down their inhibitions. The landlady later, if you keep pushing, starts leaving her top buttons undone. Then she's "accidentally" brushing against you in the hallway. The handjob scene in the laundry room is animated, which is a nice touch, the way her wedding ring catches the light. I'm a sucker for that specific brand of terrible. The parody elements are there too, I spotted what I think is a Gendo Ikari expy in the corporate arc but he's banging his secretary so who even knows.

The art is 2D, kind of rough but in a way that loops back around to being charming? Like someone's really detailed pencil sketches got scanned and colored digitally. The animation is simple, mostly breathing and blinking with some motion on the sex scenes. The oral scenes have this weird thing where the eyes don't quite track right and it's distracting but also I couldn't stop watching. The corruption isn't just the women either, the male protagonist gets these dialogue options that start normal and get progressively more unhinged. By day 10 I was saying shit I'd never pick in a Bioware game. The fantasy tag is misleading though, it's all modern day with just the one supernatural element. Unless you count the CEO's bathroom, which is pure fantasy real estate.
